We were extremely happy with all aspects of working with The Window Man. The representative who came to the house to provide an estimate, Nick, was friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't do a hard sell. Where other companies pressured us to commit immediately, Nick gave us plenty of time to research window construction, visit the showroom, and get other estimates. When we decided to go with fiberglass windows, it became clear that The Window Man had the best prices on Marvin Infinity windows. Nick was responsive and worked with us on the price to fit our budget.
Though we expected a 4-6 week wait to get them ordered and installed, the windows came in only 3 weeks and we were able to schedule an installation within a few days of their arrival. The installation team arrived at 7 am and started a flurry of activity. The team was big enough that they could work on multiple windows simultaneously. All 20 windows and our new door were fully installed within a few hours. I especially appreciated their clean-up crew: they vacuumed up all the dust and debris, and cleaned the glass on each window before leaving. The whole crew was done by 2:30 pm!
One of the windows had a broken part (the balance), and the team's supervisor notified me as we conducted the inspection. The part was ordered, and they returned to fix it within 2 weeks. The windows themselves are absolutely beautiful, as is the front door. I highly recommend Nick and the rest of the team at The Window Man.

After doing a lot of research on replacing my 25 year old wooden windows I found that the Marvin Infinity windows were the best choice I could make. Since these are fiberglass windows and not the cheaper and weaker vinyl windows they cost more. Knowing that they would not be inexpensive I wanted to get at least three bids for the job. One of the Marvin dealers that tried to treat his job quote as if I was buying a car so turned me off that I finally just turned him down. Fortunately his parting words were "You must be going with The Window Man." Needless to say I gave them a call the next day. I spoke with Jon who assured me that they service Maryland and they they carry the Marvin Infinity Windows. To make a long story short Jon was very knowledgeable and gave me the best price over the other dealers and was very easy to deal with. The Window Man does two sets of measurements. The first is an approximate size to give a q price quote. The second one is done precisely before the order is sent to the factory.
It took approximately a month for the windows to be made and delivered. We ordered the grilles between the glass which makes cleaning them a breeze. Another nice feature that Marvin has is what they call Everwood. It's an exclusive wood grain interior finish that can be stained to match your existing woodwork. Once the windows came in The Window Man gave me a call to install the windows when it was good for us. They showed up as promised early in the morning and installed all twenty windows by the end of the day. All the measurements were so accurate that every window went in smoothly. I really love my new windows and would not hesitate to use The Window Man in the future.

I had two rear entry doors replaced. One replacement door was the back door leading to the kitchen and the other was a compatible storm door.
I really want to thank The Window Man for the time and attention given me on the purchase of my new kitchen rear entry door and storm door. Sometimes all the details can be daunting and I appreciate all the details they reviewed with me, including the pros and cons of certain features.
I also want to mention I had my first quote a year ago from a VERY well known company. The odd thing was that the quote was supposed to be good for a year. When I called 10 months later they were in a quandary as to whether or not they could honor the quote previously given me. Apparently my salesman was no longer there and the quote he gave me was on a carbon copy document of theirs buy the copy was never sen to their office. It seems I was transferred from one person to the next and waited and waited to hear if the previous quote was one they would recognize. In the meantime, knowing the brand I wanted with this VERY well known company and that The Window Man carried it, I found that your prices was approximately $800 less without even bringing up anything about the VERY well known company situation.
Amazingly I did not have to wait very long for the custom door (same brand as the VERY well known company was going to provide) to arrive and your installation team did a great job. I also appreciated that your office staff person called while the doors were being installed just to see if all was going well.

We met Matt, the sales rep, at a home show in January. He was extremely patient, professional, and polite as we narrowed our choice down. This included multiple visits by him to our home an meetings at their showroom, as well as two visits for final measurement of the windows. We also got proposals from several other local Marvin window installers, but non matched the professionalism and value of The Window Man.
After finally making our decision, paying the deposit, and waiting for the windows, the call came that the windows had arrived. On the day of installation, a large crew appeared right on time. Han, the leader, met with me to go over the details of the installation. He was very careful to make sure everything was done to my complete satisfaction. I've often heard that the installers are the most important part of new windows, and Han is the best. I've had windows installed at two previous homes, and neither came close to the quality of workmanship done by Han and his crew. Full tear outs are a lot of work, and the crew worked a full 11 hours to complete the job in one day. Every bit of trash was picked up, the dust vacuumed up inside the house, and the windows were wiped clean as a final nice touch. Even after such a long day, Han remained to patiently answer numerous questions we had. We're ecstatic over every aspect of this job-the staff at The Window Man and the quality of the product are among the best experiences we've ever had in 25+ years of home improvement projects.

The process is a 3-step process--first they come and do an estimate, describing the products they offer, and you can choose what you want and sign a contract and give them a 50% deposit. Then they have to come out again and do an accurate measurement prior to ordering the window. Then it has to be installed when it comes in. I found that it takes a bit more time to do this than I would have liked - all together it was probably around two months to get the window replaced. But they were very pleasant and professional to deal with, and the installation was quick, the guys were knowledgeable, and they did an excellent job an cleaned up nicely afterwards. They came each time when they said they would.

Replaced two drafty, builder grade windows in bedroom with two Soft-Lite "Elements" windows and replaced a patio sliding door with a Soft-Lite Thermal Glide sliding glass door. Both the windows and door were highly efficiency units in terms of thermal efficiencies.
Everything went better than I had anticipated. I am a cynic by nature and generally prepare for disappointment when dealing with contractors. I've renovated 5 houses over the past 30 years and have enough stories to write a book. However, in dealing with the folks at "The Window Man" (sales person, installation technicians and billing department) I was astounded at their friendliness, competency and professionalism. They sold me a fine product at a reasonable price, installed it correctly and on time as well as handled the billing with a competency that was refreshing. We are in the process of replacing our windows (i.e.., ordered but not yet installed). As someone pointed out on Angie's List, buying windows is much like buying a car or a timeshare and the process was quite frustrating.
We spent about 5 months researching windows (I started at the National Fenestration Rating Council, Efficient Windows Collaborative and Energy Star websites) before we got our first proposal. We got a total of five proposals before we finally settled on a contract. We got proposals from Home Depot (Simonton) - the cheapest, Long Windows (Serious) - by far the most expensive and most stressful to deal with (their price at the end of 24 hours was about 60% of their original estimate), Window Warehouse (American Jewel), Window Nation and The Window Man (both Soft Lite). We also sought out a proposal from NOVA Installations (at the high recommendation of a coworker but they never got back to us despite repeated calls).
We ended up ordering the Soft-Lite Elements Windows because of window features and Soft-Lite's third party testing/certification - NFRC (link to search manufacturer verification) low U rating (0.19 full-frame, 0.10 center of glass), R-5 and AAMA performance certification of .01 cfm for air infiltration. We also chose The Window Man for the installation because they participate in the AAMA Installation Masters training and certification program. Our salesman is Nick Kalivretenos (Nick@thewindowman.com). Nick has been very responsive in returning calls and e-mails as well as promptly handling our change order so that it would not delay our installation date.
I could probably write a book on the experience but this should give you a good start.

"Let me belatedly thank you for your advice regarding storm-windows options for my historic Old Town Alexandria townhouse. As you know, I opted for the Mon-Ray quarter-inch laminated storms with custom coloring to match our house. I am extremely happy with their performance in every respect; appearance, sound reduction, and security.
As you predicted, the storm windows look great. Unlike most storm windows, these Mon-Ray's don't protrude outwards. Instead, they are largely flush with the existing window casement. This is great for historic houses, because the Mon-Ray's end up looking like old-fashioned wooden storm windows. The fact is, unless you look closely, you wouldn't even know that the house has storm windows over the primes.
I also appreciate the very significant sound reduction. As you know, this is very important to me because my part of Old Town can be a very noisy place. With the Mon-Ray's installed over the double-glazed Marvin prime windows, there is a very dramatic reduction in sound from cars and airplanes.
It is also clear to me that the Mon-Ray storm windows will make a big difference in the security of my home. As you know, as a practical matter, it would be pretty much impossible to break through these quarter-inch laminated windows. And it's a safe bet that any thief looking at the combination of formidable storm windows and double-glazed prime windows will opt to move on to another house.
